Introduction
to Sea Skills and the SKCWA
Intermediate Award
For
some time the Club has recognised that quite a gap exists between
Australian Canoeing's Basic Skills and Sea Skills Awards. The Sea Kayak
Club of
WA initiated a Club-based Award which we
called the SKCWA Intermediate Award. However, the Award was not
successfully implemented, and an alternative now exists. Les
Allen, one
of the founding members of our club, has been instrumental in setting
up a new Introduction to Sea Skills Award with Australian Canoeing,
which
will fill the gap between the Basic Skills and Sea Skills Awards. Several club instructors are now running courses based
in Rockingham, Hillarys, Mandurah and Albany. Visit the training
page for more information on the Introductory Sea Skills
Award course, and other courses.
